Black Lives Matter
Chapter 1
Donating 15% of June and July sales to 100 Black Men and ACLU Voting Rights
Black Lives Matter. So, let’s support the movement. For June and July we are donating 15% of sales to 100 Black Men of Los Angeles and ACLU Voting Rights.
As a brand based in Los Angeles, we chose 100 Black Men of Los Angeles because we want to help enact positive change for the black community in our hometown. Focusing on education and youth development, they work to equip community youths with the tools and resources necessary to fulfill their potential and feel empowered. This involves mentors visiting school campuses, promoting health and wellness programs, teaching leadership skills, or providing entrepreneurial training for interested high school students of color.
The 100 Black Men of Los Angeles Mission Statement is as follows:
Focusing on education and youth development, they work to equip community youths with the tools and resources necessary to fulfill their potential and feel empowered. This may involve mentors visiting school campuses, promoting health and wellness programs, teaching leadership skills, or providing entrepreneurial training for interested high school students of color.
We are excited to announce that we will be interviewing Rev. Jewett L Walker Jr, D.Min., the 100 Black Men of Los Angeles President and Chairman of the Board, to learn more about the impactful work the organization is doing for the Black Community. This interview will be released in a future Chapter.
We have also pledged part of our donation to the ACLU Voting Rights. This organization is a non-profit dedicated to fighting against voter suppression. The organization strives to eliminate the bias in voter registration and election of candidates which has historically functioned to discourage racial minorities from voting. We chose ACLU Voting Rights because we believe change starts with action and we want to support the fight for equal opportunities for all minorities.
This is only our first step in supporting the Black Lives Matter movement, and we thank you for joining us in the call for justice.
