Our mission at Original Paperbacks is to bring high quality and creative clothing to the world that fulfills the casual lifestyle needs of our customers. Our goal is to always create and sell product that we genuinely love. We are careful to craft each garment with a unique personality of color only possible from our expertise in washing and dying. The story of our garments begins at headquarters choosing fabric, and continues throughout our dye house as we hand craft colors to dye garments from start to finish.
We pride ourselves on the hand feel of our garments, so we take special consideration when picking fabric for each style. From our best-selling stretch Bedford corduroy to our newest cotton fleece fabric, we select fabric for its durability, quality, and reaction to dying techniques.
Our clothing is hand dyed here in Los Angeles, CA at our very own dye house. We believe that garment dying is both a craft and an art. Countless risks and variables in the dying process contribute to the achievement of the rugged, worn-in look of pigment dying, or the classic clean look of reactive dying. Each process lends its own well-balanced characteristics, and complements the brand’s “under-designed” sensibility.
Our clothing begins as a blank canvas on which we can experiment with custom colors. We believe in choices and telling your own story, whether that be with your career, lifestyle, or even the colors you choose to wear. We also believe that no two colors are the same, and since everything is hand dyed, we embrace the slight differences in the colors and tie dye designs we create. This means that each garment is unique to you, and has gone through its own special process to achieve that vintage, hand-dyed feel.
At our headquarters, we do all our own trimming, pressing, packing, and shipping. Our small team of skilled workers handle each and every garment that goes through our warehouse. There is a story behind every piece of clothing we make, and while our journey ends here, yours begins. So, like a cherished book, we pass our clothing along to you for you to write your own story in the clothes we made. Whatever you do in life, always remember to live one chapter at a time, as if every page is part of your existence
